Study Abroad - Pre-Departure Meetings

Semester / Year Programs

Every semester, the NAU Center for International Education conducts a Pre-departure Orientation for all NAU students participating on an NAU approved study abroad program. This is a mandatory meeting for all study abroad students.

The orientation typically takes place on a Saturday, usually about a month before the conclusion of each semester. This meeting marks the final, official meeting between the student and the International Office staff.

The orientation is divided into two sections

1) General Information: Topics range from credit transfer, to flight arrangements, to visa issues, to what to pack.

2) Program Specific Information: All important information that students will need to know about their specific study abroad site will be discussed. Also, students have the opportunity to ask questions, and to listen to others' questions, about the program. Study Abroad Advisors usually try to invite former participants as guests, so that students may ask these individuals questions as well.

Each session is approximately 2 hours in length.

At the meeting, students will be given a Pre-departure handbook.Important information is contained within the handbook making it imperative that students read the handbook in its entirety and that they take the handbook with them to the study abroad site.

Spring 2007 Orientation: Saturday, April 28th

Note: You may have a location specific orientation on a different date. Please check with your study abroad advisor for details.
