Agreements of Association with over 40 higher education institutions are a part of NAU's efforts to internationalize educational and research opportunities for students, faculty and staff of NAU, increasing NAU's academic cooperation around the world. The Center for International Education at NAU coordinates the agreements, fostering continuing relations between the respective universities with the exchange of students, faculty and staff for periods of study and research. In addition to maintaining these relations, the International Office seeks out new relational partners for broadening the international capacity of NAU.
The importance of strong international associations between university departments and colleges increasingly has become an important component of universities stategic goals. By developing international associations, NAU is keeping pace with the rapid transformations of today as countries become more globally connected. Many reasons exist for the development of such associations including: student, faculty and staff exchanges, additional study abroad program developments, research and resource sharing. Together, all these means form the basis for sound collaboration between NAU and its partner institutions.
