Education Abroad: INTERNATIONAL insurance information
All students participating in a study, internship, serveice learning or research program abroad will be required, and automatically enrolled, in the mandatory NAU International Health Insurance Plan provided by HTH Worldwide. American health insurance plans are not accepted.
The cost of the insurance varies depending on your days abroad. Therefore, most students will have different amounts billed to their student accounts (LOUIE).
Once enrolled, you will receive an electronic ID as well as proof of enrollment in the form of a letter. However, if you need a more specific letter for student visa purposes, please contact your study abroad advisor. In addition, please familiarize yourself with HTH Worldwide's web page as it provides important information about coverage and procedures when a situation arises.
Exceptions
1. The governments of Australia and New Zealand require all students to enroll in their health insurance plan as a requirement for participation in their study abroad program. As a result, students attending these countries will not be enrolled in the NAU International Health Insurance Plan.
2. Students attending a program in Puerto Rico will not be enrolled in the NAU International Health Insurance Plan as Puerto Rico is part of the United States and American health insurance plans are widely accepted.
3. Students attending an ISEP program will be required to participate in the ISEP health insurance program. As a result, students will not be enrolled in the NAU International Health Insurance Plan.
4. Students attending a study abroad program in which the international health insurance is included as part of the program fees will not be enrolled in the NAU International Health Insurance Plan.
