Education Abroad: Student Visas

Your country may or may not require a student visa in order to participate in a study abroad program. In order to check this out, please click on the link below for the country you will be going. (Please note that some of the links below will take you to the Consulates in Los Angeles, which is the jurisdiction for the State of Arizona)

While NAU provides some assistance with the student visa process, please note that it is the student's responsibility to secure the necessary visa(s) before arriving in the host country. In addition, NAU is not responsible for the accuracy of the information presented in each Consulate's website.

A couple of important notes about student visas:

  • Some countries will require you to apply in person at their location (e.g. Los Angeles)
  • You must apply for your visa 2-3 months prior to departure
  • All documents submitted must be original
  • Don't assume...ask if you're unsure about anything regarding the paperwork

It is recommended that you meet with your study abroad advisor prior to starting your visa paperwork and throughout your visa process.
