Faculty Opportunities
INTERNATIONAL TEACHING AND RESEARCH
At Northern Arizona University, we believe that the curriculum must drive the global education agenda. A curriculum that is internationalized and that facilitates global learning outcomes require faculty who are able to access international teaching and research opportunities. Such experiences allow them to gain insights that they can then infuse into the courses they teach in related academic experiences they create for their students. The Center for International Education has therefore made this webpage available to assist NAU faculty seeking appropriate international teaching and research opportunities. This is supplemented by workshops conducted twice a year for faculty interested in learning more about these opportunities. Contact the Faculty Development Program for more information on these workshops.
SHORT-TERM FACULTY-LED STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMS
Faculty are encouraged to develop short-term faculty-led study abroad programs that can supplement material taught in a particular course on campus or as a stand-alone course. Although short-term study abroad programs do not afford cultural immersion, they provide learning opportunities that are often not available in Flagstaff or even in the United States, and allow students to have first hand and real life encounters with phenomena that can teach much more than a textbook or classroom lecture. The Center for International Education provides close support to faculty wishing to develop such programs.
